Cloud native MIS supports the whole school community

Having such good feedback from our colleagues who were involved with Beehive Prep, we were keen to find out how HUBmis was fitting in, especially to a small school.

Head Teacher, Jamie Gurr was happy to tell us about the effect it has already had.

The school’s background

Beehive Prep is in North East London on the Essex border, preparing children for success in learning, work and life. The school offers an exciting and engaging curriculum encompassing the arts, sciences, humanities and sports. It also supports the local Forest School, giving the children first-hand experience of the natural world.

Finding the right system for the job

Before Jamie joined Beehive Prep, he was part of the leadership team at a large school where they were looking at a variety of MIS and decided on WCBS as the supplier so it was a name he recognised.

Beehive Prep had a paper-based system and initially, HUBmis was brought in to help with attendance management. As Head Teacher of a small school, Jamie has a variety of other jobs, so he realised the behaviour module would also help, and even more importantly, how much better the admissions process could be managed to stop them missing a single application.

Jamie did look around at many other systems, but found that the functionality of HUBmis was explained so simply, and was impressed with how John Cannon was happy to spend the time showing him how the system would work for them.

The best bits?

The fact that HUBmis is there, with everything tied in together so that everybody can have access to things, cuts back on what the office staff have to do so they can use their time more constructively. Now all staff can check up on house points, behaviour issues, and whatever else they need to know day to day making them more effective in their roles.

“Brilliant” implementation process

With regular meetings Jamie has felt well supported. Any questions they emailed were answered very quickly, and Jamie singled out how Miles Hunt helped during the summer holidays, plus John stops by whenever he’s in the area.

It’s gone beyond what I would have expected, to be honest.

Apart from me forgetting how to do something or not sure of what to do, there have been no problems caused by the system.

It’s gone really, really smoothly.
