Happy Chinese New Year!

Chinese New Year 2016, being the Year of the Monkey, is being celebrated this week. For many of the WCBS schools across Asia this means an extended mid-year break and with that comes School Reports season. For three of our schools in the region, this has been their first time producing School Reports using the WCBS 3sysACADEMIC system; a significant step in any MIS implementation. School Reports have come a long way from the simple signed slip with an Effort and Achievement grade that used to get produced, often today they are a complex mixture of comments, rubrics, graphs and pictures with one of our school’s reports running to 10 x A4 sides per student! We are delighted to say that all three schools successfully produced their reports in time last week to send back to parents before the celebrations began for the Lunar New Year. In fact, one of the schools only started training on school reports in January, less than a month before they produced their reports!
Perhaps most gratifying of all is that two of these schools were able to produce bilingual School Reports so that both their Chinese-speaking and English-speaking parents could be kept informed of their child’s academic progress. What’s best is that these reports can then be displayed on a bilingual School Portal, meaning that parents see even more information pertinent to them in their preferred language; Chinese or English, a challenge that more and more schools in China are encountering with the rapid growth in the market.
